报告人简介:ViktorStruzhkin教授,曾就读于前苏联著名的莫斯科理论与技术学院,并获得学士、硕士学位。后到前苏联科学院高压物理研究所继续深造并获得博士学位。2003年至今一直在国际高压科学与技术研究著名机构——美国华盛顿卡耐基研究院地球物理实验室工作。ViktorStruzhkin教授是高压领域的顶尖科学家,特别是高压下磁性测量,涉及领域包括地球物理学、行星科学和凝聚态物理等方面研究。

报告摘要:Theproblem of room temperature superconductivity is a long-standing challengerelated historically to the metallic phase of hydrogen. The metallic hydrogenis also predicted to have very high superconducting Tc, which naturally followswithin the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer electron-phonon coupling mechanism due to hydrogen’shigh vibrational frequencies. Neil Ashcroft conjectured that certain compoundsof hydrogen with other elements in the periodic table may form metallic alloysor, in other words, they may include a metallic hydrogen sublattice doped withwell selected elements. Such “doped” compounds of hydrogen may have a stabilityrange at pressures much lower than 500 GPa required to stabilize pure atomicmetallic hydrogen.

Iwill describe recent results on the synthesis of such hydrides of selectedmetals. The synthesis methods take advantage of the recently developedcapabilities for laser heating in cryogenically cooled samples and also benefitfrom the pulsed laser heating techniques. The experimental results will becompared to theoretical predictions, showing good agreement between theory andexperiment. Several techniques for detecting superconducting response of thesenew polyhydrides (or superhydrides) will be also presented, along with recentexperimental results for high-Tc superconductivity in hydrogen-rich materials.
